Canada Immigration Express: Nova Scotia Welcomes Hundreds of Refugees from Ukraine
Since Canada authorized the Canada-Ukraine emergency travel visas, the country has had over 100,000 applications.
A few months ago, Nova Scotia welcomed over 100 Ukrainians. Canada Immigration Express notes that earlier in June, the province received about 300 more people from Ukraine. More Ukrainians are to arrive in this region. This possibility is because of the provisions made for them in Nova Scotia.
Some Provisions for Ukrainians in Nova Scotia
One of the provisions made available for Ukrainians in Nova Scotia is an official settlement process. This provision was put together by Nova Scotia’s provincial government in partnership with the YMCA and Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS).
The settlement process includes the provision of a welcome booth. This provision helps Ukrainians connect with services as they arrive at the Halifax airport. Also, they get Canadian employment counseling. Other actions taken include assistance with finding permanent housing and accessing essential resources like the school and health-care systems.
Canada Immigration Express added that Ukrainians have also been enjoying ease settling in Nova Scotia due to the eagerness of Nova Scotians to open their homes to Ukrainians while helping them navigate the new cities.
An Effective Means of Connecting Hosts and Ukrainian Families in Nova Scotia
Some well-meaning Nova Scotians have helped to lessen the stress Ukrainians go through upon their arrival at their new location. These people created a local Facebook group. This group has helped connect over 250 families with their hosts in Nova Scotia.
